Suffern, NY— The high school Future Artist Award recipients met and observed world-renowned artist Robert Liberace, a contemporary classicist, at Rockland Community College in honor of the College’s 50th Anniversary.
Future Artist Award Recipients:
Brittany Winter - North Rockland High School
Dana Butler - North Rockland High School
Daniel Scanno - Clarkstown High School South
Tiffany Freeman - Ramapo High School
Ebony Dallas - Ramapo High School
Mikhael Villegas - Spring Valley High School
Claudia Miller - Nanuet High School
Joshua Kim - Clarkstown High School North
Megan Heckmann - Clarkstown High School North
The Future Artist Award recipients received a private drawing class from Robert Liberace, a contemporary classicist equally accomplished in drawing, painting, and sculpture. They ate lunch with the artist and received feedback on their artwork.
Ramapo High School student Tiffany Freeman said, “I had the honor of watching a great artist at work and to ask him questions afterwards. I was actually sketching the same man he was painting and had the opportunity to show my drawing to Mr. Liberace. He gave me an extremely helpful mini-lesson on drawing.”
The Artist’s Magazine selected Liberace as one of the top 20 realist artists under the age of 40. He was recently commissioned to sculpt a life-sized statue of Mother Teresa for the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. View Liberace’s work: www.robertliberace.com
