Jon Burr & Lynn Stein- Bass/Vocal Concert @ RoCA March 7
- 2-18-2010
- Categorized in: Arts & Entertainment
West Nyack: The singing artistic director from Rockland, Lynn Stein, and the bass virtuoso from Yonkers, Jon Burr, team up for a special afternoon concert. The duo will perform soulful re-interpretations from the American Songbook, 60’s Pop and contemporary jazz. Burr, on acoustic bass, has worked with Tony Bennett, Chet Baker, Stephane Grappelli, Barbara Cook and others, and Stein returns to her musical roots as a vocalist and performer. They will be performing selections from their debut CD, “Jon and Lynn,” coming out this March. This concert is a benefit for Rockland Center for the Arts.
The Buzz...
“Now you might think that a vocal and string bass duo would sound a bit thin, but let me assure you, it's not at all. This is one of the most musical renditions I've come across in years and I've found myself, not only returning to it time and time again, but also recommending it to friends. It's beautiful. What a delight!”
--William Duckworth
“Got Bass? Got Voice? We're going to lay a little jazz on you for a change, but it's jazz with a twist. Jon Burr and Lynn Stein of Jon & Lynn are a jazz/pop duo from the NYC area that combine the distinctive sound of the upright bass and voice into a mesmerizing combo that makes you think that there's a big band playing instead of just the two. John's virtuosic playing encompasses melodic and rhythmic aspects that make his upright sound like a complete rhythm section all the while complimenting Lynn's spot-on-sexy vocals.”
