Sometimes Party Loyalty Asks Too Much - John F. Kennedy
I am Suffern Deputy Mayor John Meehan. I have been gratified and privileged to serve on the Village Board since 1998. However, for me, this year is truly the year when I must heed President Kennedy’s famous phrase.
In the Democratic Primary this year, Dagan La Corte defeated incumbent John Keegan in the Democratic Primary by a mere 87 votes. Normally I support the winner of the primary but this time I am not because the contest was not won fairly. I feel so strongly, I have established a website: http://sites.google.com/site/suffernelectionwatch/home. I ask all Suffern voters to visit this site.
Mr. LaCorte is bright, well educated and articulate. He is also very ambitious and in my opinion he has shown that he will do or say anything, true or false, to get elected. In short he has no respect for the truth.
Let me give you an example. A day or two before the primary election Democratic voters received a La Corte flyer called, “All in the Family.” In the flyer, La Corte accused Mayor Keegan of awarding an emergency contract for pool repair to his running mate, Jim De Stefano’s brother, Richard, even though Richard was not the low bidder. La Corte basically accused Mayor Keegan of breaking the law. My site will show proof that the Mayor acted within the law, the bid was legitimate and best of all, Dagan La Corte in an email, praised and recommended the high bidder. Hypocritical with a capital HYP!
Another example is from a La Corte flyer called “Taxpayer’s Bill.” In it La Corte states that Suffern was fined $50,000 for health and safety violations at our Sewer Treatment Plant. On my website I show an exchange of emails between myself and the Public Employees Health and Safety inspector who conducted the review of the Sewer Plant. It turns out that La Corte was off by exactly $50,000 in his estimate. Suffern had a number of violations, most of them were minor, they were corrected and Suffern is not being fined. Do you want a Mayor who has no respect for the truth?
Mayor John Keegan has decided not to actively campaign. He is working with me on my web site because he believes that La Corte has distorted his record and dishonored his personal reputation. He is willing to serve. I am leading a grassroots campaign of people who believe that John Keegan was a good Mayor and deserves re-election. Visit my site or call me at 357-8826 if you want to keep a good man on the job.

Question: How do you spell hypocrite?
John F. Meehan
In my opinion and MY OPINION ONLY you are turning your back on the Democratic Party and the Dagan LaCorte team. Who by the way WON the primary. The Democratic Party agreed to back the winner of the primary
regardless of which team it was. I would have been out there for Mr. Keegan's team had he won as I did in his first run for Mayor when YOU, Mr. Rosenberg and my Husband lost to them. It's "MY" way of showing LOYALTY to MY Party. Again, In MY opinion you are only trying to secure you position on the
Suffern Village Board as Deputy Mayor. Some people will do
anything for an easy buck. Maybe you should have put this much effort into your time on the board as you are doing now to save your position/salary as Deputy Mayor.
I find it disgusting that you are willing to thumb your nose
at the Democratic Party by running your own campaign for someone the Party is not backing just to save your own *ss.
