On 8/31/11 at approximately 10:19pm the Ramapo Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Rt 306 in the area of Langeries dr. Upon arrival it was learned that a 2011 Honda CRV had collided with a 2009 Chevy sedan. The 2011 Honda was Traveling south on RT 306 when it crossed over into the north bound lane and struck the 2009 Chevy (which was traveling north on RT 306). The 2011 Honda was operated by one Eugenia Steinberg a 52 year old female from Nanuet N.Y. The Chevy was operated by a Katherine Lopez a 29 year old female from New City N.Y.
Hatzolah Ambulance was on scene along with the Monsey Fire Department. Mrs. Eugenia Steinberg was removed to Westchester Medical center by Hatzolah Ambulance. At this time her injuries don’t appear life threatening. Ms. Lopez was removed to Good Samaritan Hospital by another Hatzolah Ambulance to be treated for minor injuries. Also in the vehicle with Ms. Lopez was a 3 year old child that did not appear to be injured but was removed to Good Samaritan to be checked out.
Ms. Eugenia Steinberg was charged with the following offenses of The New York State Vehicle and Traffic law. 1192-3 Driving while intoxicated ( Misdemeanor), 1192-4a DWI Drugs and Alcohol(Misdemeanor), 1126-a drive left of pavement markings. 1128-c failed to use designated lane, 1229-c3 driver no seat belt and 1227-1 open container. Ms. Steinberg is due back in Ramapo Justice Court on Sept 20th.
The Accident is still under investigation by the Ramapo Police.
