New Windsor, NY. — The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Rockland County is hosting a kickoff event on the evening of Wednesday, March 6 at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Nanuet, 425 East Route 59. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and will include a short program. The kickoff is open to anyone with an interest in participating in the Relay For Life in Rockland County. Relay For Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society. It is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivors, to remember loved ones lost, and to empower others to fight back against a disease that impacts us all.
“The American Cancer Society Relay For Life raises awareness, while also raising funds to fight the disease,” said Jen Nulle, staff partner for the Relay For Life of Rockland County. “Individuals who are willing to give of their time and energy to this fun and touching event have made a commitment to fight back against a disease that impacts us all.”
Teams will gather at the Relay For Life event on June 8 to walk the track at Rockland Community College and to participate in the activities that take place. Relay For Life unites friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, churches and people from all walks of life. Teams fundraise and seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of supporting cancer research and patient services.
Volunteers are currently needed to organize and recruit teams, seek community support, coordinate logistics, plan activities and entertainment, and lend their support in any way.
