What started out all wrong, ended up all right as Suffern fought their way back from being down 1-0 at the end of the first period against a motivated Monroe Woodbury team.
The Crusaders came out flying from the moment the puck dropped and did everything that Suffern normally does, they blocked shots, clogged the passing lanes and their transition game was on fire.
Suffern still managed to keep the puck in the MW end most of the game and played an inspired game as the visiting team in front of a standing room only home crowd.
Suffern finally got on the scoreboard in the second period on a beautiful deflection in front of the Monroe Woodbury goaltender.
The Mounties settled down, stepped up their game and took it right to the Crusaders weaving in and out with the puck and winning battles in the corners.
In the third period, Suffern captain John Redgate took the puck end-to-end and beat the Monroe Woodbury goaltender with a nice move.
Monroe Woodbury’s net minder kept the Crusaders in the game as Suffern had the power play advantage.
Next stop for the Mounties is Utica for the Frozen Four Tournament March 19th & 11th.
Suffern's Sate semi-final game will take place on March 19th at 10:00am in Utica against West Genesee who defeated Niagara Wheatfield 4-1 earlier this evening.
