Suffern High's Cameron Ford Wins National History Club History Student of the Year Award

Cameron Ford, Suffern High School senior and National Honor Society member, has recently been recognized by the Ramapo Central School District for his standing in the top 5% of the graduating class of 2012 and is the winner of the National History Club's History Student of the Year award. Cameron also completed four years of Suffern High's S.T.I.R. program for which he interned for two summers with cardiologist, Dr. Bonnie Seecharan of Middletown Medical Associates. Dr. Seecharan mentored Ford in his study of cardiovascular disease and Cameron's paper, was entered in the Siemans National Math, Science and Technology competition. Ford is a member of the foreign language honor society, the English honor society and the History honor society and is a Teen Life youth leader at the Sacred Heart Church. He had perfect attendance for the four years of high school and will be attending Vassar College in September where he will pursue a pre-med program, aspiring to become a Sports Medicine physician.

Congratulations to the following NHC students who were chosen by their Advisors to receive the National History Club "History Student of the Year" Award during the 2011-2012 academic year. Each recipient received a copy of 1776, that was signed by its author, David McCullough. George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens (www.mountvernon.org) co-sponsored the award.
