Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe today announced that Amir Choudhry (DOB 08/25/84) of 14 Buena Vista Road, New City, New York has been arrested and arraigned on one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony.
Choudhry was employed at a gas station on Main Street in New City, which is owned by his father. According to the charges, in November, 2011, the owner of an attached auto repair shop gave the defendant a check in the amount of $4,866, which was to be deposited into the business account of the defendant’s father.
Choudhry is accused of opening a bank account, at the same branch, with the same corporate name used by his father. He allegedly deposited the check into this new account, quickly withdrawing the ill-gotten money the following day.
It is alleged that the defendant stole the proceeds from the corporation, of which includes his father’s gas station and business partner’s repair shop.
Choudhry was arraigned in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court before the Honorable Rolf Thorson and released on his own recognizance.
He is due to return to court on July 18, 2012.
The defendant faces up to seven years in state prison, if convicted.
