Rockland Independent Living Center, a consumer-directed, cross-disability advocacy and service organization dedicated to empowering disabled people to exert independence, choice and control in every aspect of their life, is planning a new support group for people who are visually impaired.
This group is in the planning stages, but will cover topics of importance to people who are dealing with vision loss; such as sources of help and support, dealing with every day activities, family and social connections, and available adaptive technology. The program can provide informative speakers, time for open discussion, and assistance with education issues, employment, and life skills.
The support group will meet every 4th Wednesday of the month from 5-6:30 pm, starting June 27th. The meetings will be held at Rockland Independent Living Center at 873 Rte. 45, Suite 108, in New City, at the corner of New Hempstead Road and Route 45. Those interested must RSVP by contacting Kathy Plachy at 845-624-1366 ext. 101
Participants should bring a sandwich or salad, and we will provide soda, juice, and dessert. Help coordinating travel to and from the meeting may be possible.
